Protecting Your Privacy

The Centre for Muslim Outreach (CMO) has a long standing policy of protecting the privacy of the individuals it serves. To further its mission and purposes, the CMO collects and uses specific information about its donors, members or employees, including name, address and donation history. The CMO has developed internal policies to ensure the safety of personal information both in its offices and through the electronic transmission of data.

Donor information is retained confidentially for income tax receipting purposes. The name and address of specific individual and group donors may also be forwarded from time to time with specific donations as a courtesy to the recipients, unless the donor requests that their donation be provided anonymously to the recipient.

The CMO also compiles a list of donor names and addresses to facilitate the CMO direct mail program. Any person is entitled to request the addition or removal of their name to or from this list at any time. The list is not provided to any other person or organization and is maintained for the exclusive use of the CMO.

While current federal privacy legislation (PIPEDA) does not require the CMO, as a non-commercial organization to develop privacy policies and statements, nevertheless The CMO is committed to collect, retain, and protect personal information in accordance with its longstanding values and current Canadian practice.
